Hands and Feet of Christ

The Crossroads Church – Norwalk IMPACT team is making a difference in Abaco, balancing meaningful work with enriching cultural experiences. Join Dustin and Kim as they share highlights from their day, including a breathtaking sunrise, a visit to the vibrant Farmer’s Market, and continued progress on Zhivargo’s home rebuild.

Today the early birds woke up before some others to enjoy a nice cup of coffee, some fun conversation, and watch such a beautiful sun rise together. It makes you realize just how beautiful God’s creation is if we simply pause and take the time to look. It’s so easy to get caught up with what is going on in your own life, that you miss the beauty all around you. Can you remember the last time you took a moment just to sit back and take in the beauty around you?

After breakfast we all quickly jumped into the vans and made our way to the Farmers Market. There we got to see our friend Tracy from Driftwood Farm. She was selling the vegetables we helped to harvest and package. From the different vendors, we could purchase items such as fresh bread, jams and jellies, fresh vegetables, coffee, and so much more. It all looked so good!

After the Farmers Market, we drove to Zhivargo’s house where we continued to add siding and trim to the exterior of his house as well as more drywall. Zhivargo was around and I asked him how his house was looking and his face lit up as he said “It is looking so so good!” He was super excited and thankful for the work we were doing. We all are finding it exciting as we see the progress we’ve made towards the completion of his home.

Once we were done for the day, we returned to Camp Abaco for a traditional Bahamian meal called Chicken Sous. This is typically a breakfast tradition but we enjoyed it for our dinner. We have enjoyed the robust flavor of all of our meals!
