A late night storm helped to cool off our dorms allowing everyone to get caught up on much needed rest. A homestyle breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, and toast fueled our engines for what would be a steamy hot day of working.
One team was tasked with clearing out overgrown brush around the dorms as a few team members mowed the front lawn. Another team moved supplies and different equipment that will be used for a children’s camp in the upcoming weeks. This included moving bedding from dorm to dorm, cleaning the bathrooms, and making beds. Our last group worked on boxing and organizing different school supplies that will be taken to the Murphy Town Community Center and a local school.
We took time after a few hours of work to experience a local farmer’s market and enjoyed interacting with all the vendors and the community. Once back at camp we continued our work until the work was finished.
Just about everyone needed time to cool off and took the opportunity to enjoy the cool, clear, and glorious ocean that was on our front door step. A few chose paddle boarding while others enjoyed floating in the saltwater and searching for sand dollars.
After dinner we got the opportunity to hear the testimony from Lisa and Sam, who are two Many Hands missionaries who live on Camp Abaco. They shared their story of being missionaries in Haiti and now Abaco.
There are so many amazing ways God moves. Hearing and experiencing different “God Moments” is truly a unique thing. Day 2 provided us with so many opportunities to see what all Camp Abaco will have to offer as each team takes one step forward in the revival of the Camp.
