Truly a day of rest; island style. The day started with an awesome pre-breakfast sunrise fueling our trip to The Kirk of the Pines Church. Pastor Barrett’s message in Genesis 49-50 was surrounded by glorious song. It was a special day as Laura, Stephan, and the Kellys joined this congregation.
After church, we headed to a local restaurant to try some conch for the first time. The team experienced how the weather controls daily life in Abaco. One minute, after we entered the restaurant, it began to rain, and rain, and rain, in typical Abaco style. In what seemed like minutes, the winds and heavy rains flooded roads forcing local grocery stores to close and creating power loss. Locals experienced obvious anxiety as memories of the hurricane came flooding back again disrupting their daily lives.
The storm taught us to be flexible as well, turning the trip to Driftwood Farm into playing games, snorkeling in the rain, and fellowship back at camp.
Our evening devotional by Kate (Sr.) brought home how each person rests and rejuvenates in their own way. Some start their day with a morning run, other use devotional time for strength, and some rejuvenate doing work they love. Others soak up God’s special moments throughout the day for refueling.
Another busy day tomorrow. God bless!
