Adventure Abaco

Celebrate Church’s team painted the Murphy Community Center, fought more rainstorms, and reflected on blessings.

The team continued to function as a well-oiled machine. The interior painting of the Murphy Community Center was completed today. I (Lisa) believe the vibrant paint colors offer a welcoming and hopeful environment to all those who will enter. Laughter and music rang through every room as the team worked with joyful hearts. A baby gecko played cat and mouse with me as I painted the kitchen.

Rain continued to flood the streets and homes of Abaco. I prayed people and property alike were kept safe. The ride home resembled an amusement water park ride. At one point water rushed onto the hood of the van as we all screamed in unison, “WOW!”

Tonight’s devotions challenged us to ponder the things we take for granted back home. A variety of answers consisted of reliable electricity, clean water, good schools, and product availability. We all acknowledged how blessed we are to live in America.

This is the hardest I’ve (Ray) worked in two years. I’m tired, sore, and worn out and I feel GREAT. We all tease and laugh at each other. Today I worked in the library cataloging and putting books away. I have never felt this close to God and learned so much in such a short period of time. This is a great bunch of people at Abaco. I can’t wait to do it again.
