As someone new coming into the mission field, I feel extremely blessed to have been able to serve with the Spencer team lead by Karmen Brown and the group of volunteers she brought with her as Many Hands begins their journey in Abaco. We have worked diligently together cleaning, organizing, building and repairing the campus. We took a trip to the community center Many Hands will be a part of in the rebuilding process and spoke of the programs that will be run through there and I am excited to see the lives they will touch.
It has amazed me how so many coming together to do work for God’s Kingdom can do so with smiles through the hard dirty work it sometimes requires. We have not only worked hard, we have enjoyed the morning sunrises, shared many meals cooked by the kitchen staff, taken a trip into town for lunch and a ferry ride to Hope Town. Card games in the gathering hall in the evening have been very rewarding as we have laughed, fellowshipped, prayed and shared our thoughts on how the days have gone and all that we have been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time. Looking forward to seeing the progress as the Many Hands staff continues to move forward in their efforts to touch the lives of the local community and bring them closer in their walk with Jesus.
This has been an experience that will forever be a part of my heart through the friendships formed and the growth I have seen in myself and the others I have served with this week. Thank you Many Hands for your vision in expanding your efforts in the Bahamas and allowing me to be a part of it.
