Active in Abaco

The Kairos team spent their third day in Abaco working on rebuilding and painting the Saunder’s house. Throughout the day they each recognized and used their strengths and God-given talents to best serve the group.

Through the humidity, we all had an awesome day in Abaco. We headed back over to the Saunders property and got the pleasure of meeting Mr. Larry. While working at the home we planted trees, worked on the hardie board, painted the fascia…and we were still “sanding”. Once we got the approval from Larry, we began to prime the kitchen/dining room in their home. The group was split between outside and inside tasks, which allowed us to work where our strengths were. Shout out to Jadyn for all the carpentry expertise and her patience today! Something we have been working on is using the unique strengths that God has given us to bless those around us. This trip has helped both Brenna and Sophia to realize they can have confidence in their strengths because they are becoming more visible as we spend time as a Kairos group.

As a group, we were able to conquer MANY fears today. Hallee strongly overcame her fear of heights by getting on a ladder to help complete the hardie board. Along with that, Sophia was able to fight off her fear of wasps while painting the fascia, and only ran inside one time… new record. The girls have definitely worked on their fear of bugs, but still have room to grow… based on the screams we heard last night HAHA! It’s easy to say we’ve all grown a lot on this trip and it’s hard to believe that we have only been in Abaco for three full days.

Outside work on the Saunder’s house

A word we focused on today was action. To us, action means intentionally fulfilling the calling God gave us. This sparked the conversation of how we were all called here, whether it was clear or subtle. Ms. Laura made a statement that stood out to us about how we are all here at this time with this group for a reason. It really ties into our Kairos theme of “Right Place, Right Time.” Through working outside in the sun, painting the ceiling, getting freshly squeezed lemonade with the group, and ending the night with worship, we were truly living out love in action. We were told that Many Hands is all about love in action, but there is something special about getting a front-row seat and participating in it.

Remember to conquer a fear today,

Sophia & Brenna
