Hear about the power of mutual blessing! See how the Immanuel CRC IMPACT Team’s day unfolded, from sharing grits and smiles with children at CAPS to recognizing God’s direction while mowing the lawn. Read about their projects, a visit to Gideon’s farm, and an evening connecting with youth at the G2 program. It was a day of service, faith, and finding a clear path when connected to God.
We started our day by blessing children at the CAPS school and serving them grits and tuna for breakfast. Their blessing to us was to see big SMILES receiving “good mornings”, “thank you’s”, and many hugs. We served, interacted, and played games with the kids. Blessing was a two-way street.
Our day continued with going back to camp to tackle a few projects. Benches were made, rooms and buildings were cleaned and organized. While Lyle was mowing the lawn, sometimes he knew where he had been, and other moments, he was not sure. It came to him that sometimes you see the path God has intended for you clearly, and other times the path may disappear, and you have to search for God’s direction.
Our highlight for the afternoon was to go to Gideon’s farm, where he shared his love of farming with us. It is not Iowa farming, but he is able to bless many people with his produce.
We finished the evening joining the G2 program with 11-18-year-old kids. We were able to play games, make jewelry, and serve a snack. We listened to a talk on “our desires.” Whether young or old, the path is not always clear when making choices of our desires, unless we are connected to God.
