Busy Day at the Saunder’s

The Celebrate Church IMPACT team spent another hot day serving as God’s hands and feet. They also were able to attend a local church youth group!

We began our day knowing it would be a hot one.  As we gathered before breakfast, Jalen brought us our devotion from Mark 7:6-9 and it hit home talking about living out our faith rather than just acting like it.

We headed to the Saunder’s home and began our HOT day by finishing up several projects. All the Sogards, Kate Jr and Jalen tackled the roughly 14 shutters that needed to be primed and painted front and back. This project took them the entire day as they were rather large. Big Mike and Faith hung ceiling fans and light fixtures throughout the home. Maddie and Jalen worked on touching up the paint on the entire interior of the home.  Mike Cranmer painted the siding we put up yesterday.  Judd, Jake, and Russ worked on another house that was in the neighborhood to finish putting hurricane hangers on the framing of the home.

We all had lunch at the Saunders’ home before finishing up together later in the afternoon.  As several guys worked on the beginning parts of building bookcases, everyone started cleaning up.  The last thing we did at the Saunders’ home was bless the family and pray over them as a group.  This family has been through so much that it only seemed appropriate to pray a blessing over them, their family, and their home.

We returned to camp for a quick refresh before returning to town to join a local youth group for their evening together.  At the church, we were able to help in a youth event where we played games and worshiped with the kids.

We ended the night back at camp for dinner and devotions by Jake.  As we closed out the night we were reminded how nice it is to have cool temperatures and a breeze every now and then.  We have all been fulfilled by the work we have done thus far and look forward to seeing more of Abaco tomorrow and all that God has in store for us through the remainder of this trip.
