Childlike Faith

His mercies are new every morning. This resounds in my head watching the sun rise from the beach. This proved true as our morning started with the generator that powers Camp Abaco being down. The guys got a new belt and had it back up and running pretty fast.

The group’s day started with another amazing breakfast which we complemented with some of the fruit jams Ruby (one of the homeowners we helped a few days ago) gifted us. The ladies of the group then started painting the paneling of one of the bunk rooms. Time passed quickly with our singing to worship music and enjoying each other!

This afternoon a group of kids, who have been doing tutoring with Lisa (Many Hands Lead of Education and Early Child Development), came to camp and we got to play games, tell the story of Joseph, and have dinner with them. It was amazing to see the joy on all of the kids’ faces, even after everything they have been through.

After dinner, Evie rode with the kids to be dropped off at their homes. It was hard to see some of their living conditions and hear their stories about losing family members in Dorian or in other ways. How they told these stories makes it sound like this is a very normal part of life.  Although talking to them was heartbreaking and we wish we could help fix things we know our role today was more to listen, come alongside them, and share the love of Christ through praying with them and spending our time with them.

Seeing how excited they were about the Bible stories and wanting us to pray with them, makes us think about how Jesus wants us to act like little children in our lives and in our Faith. We are called to keep seeking Him and love Him even in the hard times.
