Connections

The Kamerman-IMPACT team shares their experiences from their Culture Day. Krisanne Myers expresses the importance of connections and the pleasant surprise it’s been to connect with everyone on the trip with her. Read about the beauty of God’s creation and His people in this latest blog!

Today was culture day. This is a day to explore some of the Bahamian culture and to see parts of the islands that we have not yet seen.

Our team has gotten to know each other very well. There is a lot of laughter and support. It was fun to experience culture day with this group! We took a ferry to Hope Island. Some of us climbed to the top of the lighthouse where we were able to see God’s beauty all around us. We enjoyed lunch together where we were able to reflect on our last week. Then we spent the afternoon shopping and swimming in the ocean.

I have been on many mission trips and am always amazed by how close a group can get in such a short span of time. On this trip so far, we are able to put away our worries and our only goal is to show God’s love to those around us. The magic of the trip is that we are able to do this in community with others. Our group is unusual in that we were not really connected in any significant way before we came on this trip. Despite this we have all grown to love and appreciate each other.

In our reflection at the end of the day we talked about our mixed feelings of the day. Sometimes it is difficult to stop working and have a relaxing day when we all feel like we are here to work. However, the connections that we are making with each other have been amazing and learning to stop and enjoy God’s beautiful creation can be as important as the work

We have one more day of work left before we go back home. I look forward to continuing to work with this group and tell our Impact stories tomorrow.
