We started off as a normal day doing our devotions and getting breakfast which was French Toast! After breakfast we had about an hour to work on writing our IMPACT stories that we would be sharing to the group later that day. After that, we went out around the camp and picked up glass and other trash from the hurricane. There were tons of glass pieces in the driveway, and we spent an hour picking the pieces up. Then we moved on to picking up larger pieces of trash behind camp. After a couple of hours of that passed, we had time to clean up our dorms. Once we finished, we just had free time the rest of the day so we tried to enjoy the beach as much as we could before we leave tomorrow. Pretty much the whole group got sunburned.
After that Mr. De Ruiter called us in to share our IMPACT stories we worked on earlier. We gathered around the couches and then we each shared what we wrote down about how the trip has impacted us personally. It was pretty cool to hear each other’s stories and how each of us was impacted on the trip.
We decided as a group we would hold a small private Good Friday service in the Chapel on Camp. We read from the gospels of the story of Jesus’ crucifixion. The boys dressed up for our little chapel in their button-ups and jeans rolled up with their sandals. Us gals followed their trend and jumped into our dresses really quickly. Oom Bert thought it would be funny to tell everyone to dress up except Mr. De Ruiter so when he showed up to chapel he was underdressed. To conclude our service, we all sang the Doxology holding hands in a circle. By the time our little chapel was over it was pitch black with no lights and that led us here, writing to you all with a bowl of cereal.
