Oh man, have we had a good time! Our prayers were answered as soon as we arrived at Camp Abaco on Sunday. Although we came as individuals amidst a group of five families, our ‘singleness’ dissipated and not only were we able to connect with each other, but our integration with the rest of the group came naturally. Throughout the week, we have genuinely enjoyed getting to bond with team members and getting to know more about their unique stories. Some of our other highlights have included Impact Journey evening discussions with Laura, whom we refer to as “Mom”, witnessing the community of Abaco unite and thrive, and being inspired by the respectful character of every person we have met. We have continually been in awe of Our Creator and His work from the pink sand beaches to Dallas the Camp Mascot to starfish and sand dollars to shimmering blue water to promising sunrises and sunsets.
This trip has caused us to consider some unfamiliar questions, like “Is the mission field in Abaco a potential calling for our futures?” or “How can we apply the things we have discovered about ourselves and the Lord in our day-to-day walks?” as well as ask ourselves if the creation of mosquitoes and sand fleas was necessary at all, considering three more bug bites (each) have joined their predecessors during the duration it has taken to write everything up until this point. This week has stood out to us so much and is difficult to sum up, but we are incredibly grateful we said yes and would do it a million times over!
