Ingenuity & Resilience

Today we worked at the camp painting in the dorms, building shelving, and putting up ceiling tiles. I have seen not only the beauty of God’s creation, but the beauty of God’s people working side by side completing one task and project at a time.

As I continue to meet and work with the people of Abaco, I am amazed by their ingenuity and resilience just as the crab in the photo has adapted to a new home by using a plastic cap as his “shell”. This was such a good picture of the people here. Many are still living in cars, tents, dome homes and containers as they begin to build or rebuild their homes, businesses and lives. I have not heard complaining about their situation in the face of so much destruction. It seems that we are not making a dent in the rebuilding but they are all so appreciative of any help we give no matter how small the project seems to us it is making a huge difference in their lives. I see Romans 12 :13 in action. “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
