Inontime – Culture Day

The Inontime Impact Team is made up of staff and friends of employees from the logistics company.

Josh Little and Reuben Bos share the reminders of God’s creative beauty and the patience we need.

Just like every day we’ve been here, we started it off with a two-mile run along the amazing beach Abaco has to offer us. Astounded by the beautiful sunrise, we reminded ourselves of God’s beauty that each day has to offer.

After breakfast, we prepared to head out to the Ferry to take us and our group to Hope Town. Right before we left, Dave challenged us in his devotion to take the next step in our faith, reminding us that God will give us what we need when we need it. Also, he encouraged us to connect with people along the way as we traveled to Hope Town.

As we got closer and closer to the ferry dock, we were surprised at how much nicer the buildings kept getting. It led us to ask the question of why this was. When we got to the ferry dock, we noticed how different the culture was getting. Throughout the boat ride, everyone was joyful and super friendly, despite having to take a ferry to work every day.

Riding the ferry to Hope Town

We first arrived at Hope Town and toured this incredible lighthouse allowing us to view God’s beauty in everything that he creates. As we traveled up higher and higher in the lighthouse, excitement grew in the urge to look over the land that God created that was different from what we had ever seen. While also laughing at Todd, who held onto the railing for his life because of his fear of heights.

As we entered the resort where we were to eat lunch, we were astonished by the great progress they had made since the hurricane. And again wondered how this place was practically perfect while just 2 miles away, Abaco was still struggling to rebuild. There was one word that came up at the resort. The word of Patience. As we sat there, we were reminded that we were here to serve and not get served, so we set our sights on not worrying about things we could not control. After a delicious meal, we headed off to the settlement of Hope Town.

Right when we arrived, we dashed to the beach. Mesmerized by the beauty of the water, we ran straight with the hopes of seeing some fish. We ended up seeing a couple of fish that were small in size but not in significance, showing us God’s great detail. As we drifted further from the shore, Todd kept yelling at us to come in closer. This was not what we wanted to hear, and we disregarded this completely, and in fact, we did not come in. Last on the list was to stop at the shops and see the cool souvenirs we could find with the hopes they would forever hold the memories of this trip.

As the day wrapped up, discussion led to us realizing how inviting and warm-hearted this community was. Each person reflected on their day and how the differences in scenery of God’s beauty were shown through it all.
