Inontime – Stories

The Inontime Impact Team is made up of staff and friends of employees from the logistics company. Logan and Micah share the impact they made helping people, but reflect on the deeper impact they felt listening to other people’s testimonies.

This morning we had an amazing devotion about staying dusty, trusting, and following God. We learned that in Israel, it’s mostly a desert, so when people walk, they kick up dust. We talked about when Jesus would walk with his disciples, he would kick up dust as he walked. In our life we need to do the same by staying close to him and getting dusty while trying to learn from him.

Later we went to church at Kirk of the Pines. We sang great worship songs. After we worshiped, pastor Barret went up onto the stage and preached about God’s strength. We were in Mark 1:21-28, and we read about the first time Jesus cast a demon out of a Jewish man while he was teaching in the synagogue. Jesus is the master of all, and he can tell demons what to do, and they will listen to him. One thing I thought that was cool was the worship team was only two people, the pastor playing the guitar and somebody else singing. This shows that you don’t need a big band or lots of people to worship God

After church, we went to the restaurant Colors, where we met a busboy, Jonnie, who worked at the restaurant. He was showing us where the old restaurant was, which was destroyed during Hurricane Dorian. It was about 30 yards down the shore; it was just a big pile of rubble. The entire restaurant was flattened, and there was nothing left. He also told us that the bay had no boats in the water; they were all on the other side of the island. Also, he said that during the hurricane, people were running up and down the streets yelling because they did not know what to do or where to go. Then when we asked if we could pray for him and if he had any prayer requests. He said when we get to heaven, there will be no white and black, and your background doesn’t matter, and you as a person doesn’t matter, and everyone will be equal. This just proves that God created all people and everyone is the same no matter how you look and what you believe.

Later in the day, we went and distributed food and clean water to some of the locals and asked them if we could hear their story about what had happened in their life and how their life was affected by the hurricane. They all were willing to tell us about what had happened and if they had lost any loved ones. With all that has happened all of the people said God is good, and their faith has gotten stronger from the hurricane. Also, one major thing that stuck out to me was that Derick, one of the heads of the local government, said, “My house might look good from the outside, but there is nothing inside because I would rather help fix other people’s houses.” This stood out to me because he would rather serve his community and give to other people in the community.

Today we impacted people’s lives by giving them food and people to talk to about how the hurricane affected their lives. But they were not the only ones that were impacted today. We were also impacted by just listening to their stories and how their lives on the island.
