“This day showed how God wants our obedience.” The IMPACT Team from Immanuel CRC, Third Church, and Ebenezer Reformed Church is already learning how God gives people his light to accomplish his purposes. Reflections from Ian and Blaze paint a picture of the obedience and light their team carried at the start of their trip.
We safely arrived in Abaco on Saturday, and after we were picked up from the airport, we got a tour of the town and our camp.
We got up the next morning, ate breakfast, and then packed some goodie bags to distribute throughout the local shanty town. We went to Kirk of the Pines in the morning, visiting with the 40 or so people who attend there. After eating at a local restaurant, our time was spent going to people’s homes, giving goodie bags, and talking with them.
As we were leaving someone’s house after meeting with them, a man from next door waved and ran over to us. He asked us about what we were doing, and we began a conversation with him and his uncle. They were very excited to talk about Many Hands and glad they could meet with us.
Our group felt that this was a good reminder that darkness is drawn to light. We are in Abaco to be the love and light of Christ. This day showed how God wants our obedience. He uses us as his light, and he draws others to the light for his purpose. The events that happen are not always planned, but God has a plan to use us for his good as long as we are obedient to him.
