Today was a day that truly reminded each of us about the importance of rest and enjoying God’s splendor and taking much-needed time for self-care. On the seventh day, God rested from all his work. We were reminded of the importance of taking the time to reflect and renew our spirits as we took in all that Abaco offered – shopping at some of the beautiful local shops while supporting the local artists. We took time and prayed for God’s hands of blessings upon the shop owners and their employees. They were all very appreciative of our patronage and prayers.
Next, we were off to the beach! Wow, what beautiful beaches in Abaco! We took in God’s splendor as some of us watched from the shoreline and the others took part in swimming, diving, floating and simply having fun in the water. We enjoyed great fellowship with each other and developed an even closer bond as two of our teammates made a personal decision to go all in with Christ Jesus and get baptized in Abaco; congratulations to Karla Lily and Kiernan Lily Stevens. Words cannot express the joy we all felt as we loved our fellow brother and sister in Christ. Karla stated that this mission trip has truly changed her life and given her purpose and a renewed sense of strength and perspective in her walk with Christ! Thank you Jesus!
The day was not over! We made it back to camp when we were greeted with another delicious meal from our great cooks – Lula and Dorene. Absolutely precious vessels of honor. We cannot ask for better cooks and women with a heart to serve through the love of Christ. After dinner, we spent some time sharing about our day. We sure had fun with one another! We have become good friends and developed relationships that will continue as we go home, realizing we need each other. It’s a commitment I’m making to be Love in Action to my dear sisters. The bond we have made by being vulnerable with one another about the bumps in our journey has brought us close.
Speaking of bumps…did you know that there is a really, really long bumpy road leading into Camp Abaco? (If you know, you know!) So we made a song about it to survive the mile journey:
THERE’S A BUMP ON THE ROAD TO CAMP ABACO (If you know, you know!)
(To the tune of the Bottom of the Sea)
There’s a bump on the road to Camp Abaco,
There’s a bump on the road to Camp Abaco,
There’s a bump, there’s a bump,
There’s a bump on the road to Camp Abaco.
There’s a hump on the bump on the road to Camp Abaco,
There’s a hump on the bump on the road to Camp Abaco,
There’s a bump, there’s a bump,
There’s a bump on the road to Camp Abaco.
There’s a lump on the hump on the bump on the road to Camp Abaco,
There’s a lump on the hump on the bump on the road to Camp Abaco,
There’s a bump, there’s a bump,
There’s a bump on the road to Camp Abaco.
There’s a clump on the lump on the hump on the bump on the road to Camp Abaco.
There’s a clump on the lump on the hump on the bump on the road to Camp Abaco,
There’s a bump, there’s a bump,
There’s a bump on the road to Camp Abaco.
Oh my rump! On the clump on the lump on the bump on the road to Camp Abaco.
Oh my rump! On the clump on the lump on the hump on the bump on the road to Camp Abaco,
There’s a bump, there’s a bump,
There’s a bump on the road to Camp Abaco.
