Waymaker

It was a rain-free day here in Abaco! We started the day by having members of the team make pancakes for everyone (Thanks to Jim for supplying the 15lb bag of pancakes in your suitcase.) From there, we got all snazzed up and headed to a powerful church service at Kirk of the Pines. For those of you who don’t know, Kirk is Scottish for church (we have not fact-checked this!).

We had the privilege of blessing families by distributing food and necessities to them. But it turns out, they were a blessing to us. We met some incredible families and individuals who welcomed us into their homes and shared their stories with us. Each person we met with was impacted by Hurricane Dorian in some way or another.

This particular hurricane was unlike anything they had ever experienced. It was active over the island for 52 hours with over 200 mph winds. One of the team members asked, “What do you think that 52 hours sounded like to God?” Wesley reminded us that when we see no way, God will make a way.

A local shares a story with the team in their home

At the end of the night, we went on a cultural experience to a member of the community’s home. They sell delicious ice cream out of the front window of their porch.
